This Creepy Day Trip Through The Spookiest Places In New York Is Perfect For Fall

If you're looking for the perfect spooky road trip in New York, we've got you covered! If you love all things haunted and ghostly, you'll be in heaven with this itinerary. There are a great many haunted places in New York worth visiting. We stuck to a trip of about 200 miles to make it more manageable of a drive. Check out the route on Google Maps, if you dare.

Are you brave enough to hit the road? The total driving time is a little over four hours, but we recommend giving yourself plenty of time to explore all the spooky spots.

1. Iron Island Museum: 998 East Lovejoy Street, Buffalo, NY 14206

We'll start our trip at the Iron Island Museum in Buffalo. This is a fascinating museum that's been a church and funeral home. Several unclaimed cremains of war veterans were found in the basement and it's thought that some of them haunt the building now. The museum was featured on the popular television show "Ghosthunters." 2. Buffalo Central Terminal: 495 Paderewski Drive, Buffalo, NY 14212

For our next stop, we'll remain in Buffalo. The Buffalo Central Terminal was a railroad station that operated from 1929 to 1979. It is said to be haunted by many World War II veterans who died during the war and couldn't reclaim their baggage. Many visitors claim to see floating orbs in the terminal, which offers regular ghost tours.

3. Rolling Hills Asylum: 11001 Bethany Center Road, East Bethany, NY 14054

Head on a little ways towards East Bethany and the next spot on our haunted places road trip in New York is the Rolling Hills Asylum. This place was a poorhouse: a haven for orphans, widows, and the disabled. Many of the spirits that live here are said to be good-natured residents who enjoyed their time at Rolling Hills. 4. The Winery At Marjim Manor: 7171 Lake Road, Appleton, NY 14008

Your next stop looks quite idyllic, but it's said to be haunted. The Winery at Marjim Manor is a vineyard with plenty of tasty offerings. 5. The Sagamore: 110 Sagamore Road, Bolton Landing, NY 12814

This stunning resort on Lake George doesn't look very spooky, but over a dozen ghosts visit here regularly. It's thought that they are the spirits of those who vacationed here in life and now return in death. 6. Belhurst Castle and Winery: 4069 West Lake Road, Geneva, NY 14456

Belhurst Castle is both a magnificent hotel and home to several restaurants. The most seen ghost here is a beautiful opera singer named Isabella who died in a tragic accident. She is said to roam the lawn searching for her lover. Get more information about the Belhurst and its history here.
