This Epic Train Ride In Nebraska Will Give You An Unforgettable Experience

Despite being the headquarters of Union Pacific, Nebraska is sorely lacking in train ride experiences. We once had several street car lines, scenic railroads, and dinner trains, but they have all since closed. There is one little train line that continues to chug-chug-chug daily, and it's totally adorable. You can't actually climb aboard the tiny model railroad at Lauritzen Gardens in Omaha, but thanks to a few point-of-view videos you can feel just like a passenger.

A total of seven train lines run through the the model train garden. Four run above the boardwalk and the other three go through the tiny replica town. The little town contains sweet handcrafted buildings that represent some of the most iconic landmarks in Omaha.

The trains also pass through tiny neighborhoods and beautiful little rural landscapes. It's easy to lose track of time watching the mini trains on their journeys.

The garden surrounding the model train features live plants, shrubs, and trees that are painstakingly manicured to scale. The railroad structures are made of natural materials like twigs, pinecones, and gourds, tying the railroad's structural elements in with their natural surroundings. It's definitely an experience that will delight kids and adults alike.
