This Charming Town Near Nashville Is Picture Perfect For A Fall Day Trip
Columbia, Tennessee is located about an hour from Nashville city center, but it's an hour down the prettiest highways and byways you've ever seen. You'll pass through Brentwood and Franklin, blow through their pretty colors on your way to Small Town, USA - and you won't regret a moment. Or the gas, really. Take a look at Columbia and fall in love!
Columbia, Tennessee is a Maury County gem that gives you a sweet look into small town southern life. Their downtown, as you can see here, is trim and historic. As of 2013, the population came in close to 35,558.
The town touts its history as the, "Mule capital of the world," and they even celebrate during April.
Columbia is also home to one of the two remaining homes of our 11th president, James K. Polk. The only other surviving residence is the White House - which is most definitely not in Tennessee.
We're in awe of the pillars and blooming cherry trees. There's something magic about a town that's crowned with blossoms every spring.
They have their own newspaper, "The Columbia Daily Herald," and the town proffers a sense of solid community across the board.
Here you can see the First Presbyterian Church, just another example of stunning historic architecture in the area.
Ah. The Tennessee Museum of Early Farming is located in Columbia, and it's a call back to the early days of Tennessee. It is housed in two salvage barns in the Tennessee countryside.
