Craving pie? Of course, you are! Luckily, there are quite a few eateries in Mississippi that serve up pies that are sure to please. You don’t have to waste your time searching the state for the best pie in Mississippi, though. We’ve already found it, and took things a step further by mapping out a route to the best pie shops in Mississippi.
The route we’ve mapped out spans nearly 450 miles and will take about eight hours to complete.
First stop, Mammy’s Cupboard in Natchez!
One of the most unique restaurants in America, Mammy's Cupboard is shaped like a giant 30-foot tall woman. Its unique appearance isn’t the only thing the restaurant is known for, though. It’s also got a reputation for serving up some of the best pie in Mississippi. Homemade and piled high with meringue, the tasty pies definitely live up to the hype.
Next, head on over to Tom’s Fried Pie Shop in Richland.
As the name implies, this world famous pie shop doesn’t dish out traditional pies. Instead, it serves up fried pies, which come stuffed to the brim with sweet or savory fillings. Can’t decide which flavor to try? Go with the apple - in 2019, Tripping Travel Guide included Tom’s on its list of places to find the best apple pie in America.
For your third stop, visit Weidmann’s in Meridian where you can grab a slice of pie with a side of history.
Nothing pairs quite as well with an old-fashioned slice of pie than a quick history lesson – and that’s exactly what you’ll get at Weidemann’s. Opened in 1870, it’s touted as the oldest restaurant in Mississippi. It’s also revered for its black bottom pie, which is often touted as the best pie in the world.
Once you’ve finished at Weidmann’s, head to The Crystal Grill in Greenwood for some more history…and pie!
One of the oldest and largest restaurants in Mississippi, The Crystal Grill, which opened in 1932, boasts 250 seats and a seemingly never-ending maze of dining rooms. The menu is as impressive as the restaurant’s size and features an "eccentric spectrum" of dishes, including some of the best pies in the Delta.
Finish up your road trip in New Albany at Sugaree’s Bakery.
Sugaree's Bakery is a famous bakeshop most known for its famous Southern layer cakes, which are shipped all over the world. However, its pies are just as noteworthy. And we’re not the only ones who think so. Over the years, they’ve received countless accolades, including being deemed some of the best pies in the South by Taste of the South magazine.
So, did you know about these amazing pie shops in Mississippi? Ever visited the places mentioned above? Who do you think serves the best pie in Mississippi? We want to hear from you!
