I Asked Our AI-Travel Planner For a Weekend Adventure in Chatham – Here’s What It Created

I decided to take the new Only In Your State AI-Travel Planner for a spin to see what it would come up with for a weekend family trip to Chatham, MA.

My kids and I spend at least one month, sometimes two, on Cape Cod every summer. My dad lives on the Cape, so it's an easy decision for a getaway in such a beautiful place, especially since we have a place to stay. The beaches, fresh seafood, the Rail Trail, and the picturesque small towns are just a few reasons I return each year. Since I know Cape Cod so well, I decided to take the new Only In Your State AI-Travel Planner for a spin to see what it would come up with for a trip to Chatham. We always end up in this charming town throughout the summer, and I was curious if I was missing out on some attraction or place to eat. Let's see the results!

How The AI-Travel Planner Works

When launching the AI Travel Planner, you'll enter a destination, followed by the length of the trip, the month, who you're traveling with, and your interests from a populated list. Once I entered a weekend trip to Chatham with family in June, it didn't take long for the results to populate. Here's what AI came up with for a "Family Weekend Getaway in Chatham, MA:"

What To Do

alt

The travel Planner gave me ideas for both Chatham and Brewster, the next town over. One of the suggestions is a place I always take my daughter: Where The Sidewalk Ends Children’s Annex. This place is an excellent spot to search for books and fun and educational toys. I highly recommend this spot!

The next options are in Brewster. Head to Nickerson State Park, one of my favorite Massachusetts state parks, for hiking, biking, camping, and swimming. Speaking of swimming, you can take the kids on a hike through the park to Cliff Pond, a dreamy swimming hole perfect for cooling off on a hot summer's day.

The last recommendation was the Cape Cod Rail Trail, which can actually be picked up from Nickerson State Park. I have biked the entire length of the Rail Trail and even taken the Old Colony Rail Trail off it to get to Chatham. It's my favorite way to explore this part of the Cape while getting in a great workout!

Where To Eat

Cape Cod has some fantastic restaurant options and bakeries. I have yet to go to Hangar B Eatery, one of the AI-Travel Planner's suggestions, but I think this summer will be the time to go. Located at the Chatam Municipal Airport, diners can watch planes land and take off while enjoying gourmet breakfast and lunch options. It's closed on Tuesdays, so keep that in mind if you plan to dine there.

The second suggestion was Marion’s Pie Shop, a favorite local spot that typically has a line out the door. The only pies that come close to theirs are what my mom bakes, and that's saying a lot because my mom is the best baker and cook I know. Marion's has a wide selection of fruit pies, cream pies, savory pies, bread, lobster rolls, soups, lasagna, and so much more. This is the most drool-worthy spot on the Cape, in my opinion.

Where To Stay

While I have a place to stay on Cape Cod that's only 20 minutes away, I was curious to see the Travel Planner's hotel suggestion. It came up with the Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club in Brewster. This luxury hotel's accommodations include rooms in the mansion or a villa. As for amenities, guests can indulge in a massage, facial, or body treatment at the spa, enjoy an elevated dining experience at on-site restaurants, play a round of golf, play pickleball, hit the gym, or go for a paddle on the ocean. Honestly, I would love to stay here!

The Verdict

To be honest, I like using the AI-Travel Planner tool. It gave me a few suggestions I most likely wouldn't have come up with myself. I think it can also take out some of the headaches of travel planning. What do you think? Would you use this tool to help plan a vacation in the U.S.?
