With a Farmer’s Market, Weekly Music, and Seasonal Festivals, There’s Nothing Like a Summer Trip to This Massachusetts Town
Yarmouth, Massachusetts offers a variety of summer activities including farmers' markets, live music, festivals, and great dining options.
For most people, a summer trip to Yarmouth, Massachusetts, means beach, beach, and more beach. While I certainly love spending a sunny day at the shore, sometimes I need a little change of pace when visiting Cape Cod. There are so many fantastic things happening in Yarmouth this summer that there is always something fun to do. Are you ready to discover some summer fun in Yarmouth this year?
One of my favorite summer activities is visiting local farmers’ markets. On Thursday and Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., you can visit the Bass River Farmer's Market, which is located on Main Street in South Yarmouth. It is a great place to buy fresh produce, pastries, eggs, and seafood. Some vendors also sell crafts, jewelry, and handmade home decor. The dates for 2025 are June 12 through September 6.
If you're in South Yarmouth on a Monday evening in July or August, you must check out the Yarmouth Summer Concert Series. Bring your beach chair to Parker's River Beach and enjoy some great live music. The series features a new artist or band each week. There is no fee for admission.
Yarmouth is also the site of many great summer festivals. The seasonal festivities start in June with the nearby annual Cape Cod Pirate Festival (dates for 2025 have not been released), followed by the Yarmouth Sand Sculpture Trail. They end in September with the Labor Day Weekend Arts & Craft Festival. There is also the festive Yarmouth Seaside Festival, which takes place later in the fall if you'd like to come back and visit then, and there are additional events throughout the winter as well.
For some indoor fun, be sure to visit the Whydah Pirate Museum where you can learn about real pirates and discover artifacts from an authentic 1717 shipwreck. It's a fascinating look into pirate culture, and you can learn how the shipwreck was discovered off the coast of Wellfleet (another wonderful Cape Cod town) by American explorer Barry Clifford.
The town of Yarmouth also has many great shops and restaurants. For delicious food and a fun atmosphere, I suggest visiting the Yarmouth House — the seafood here is incredible! Keltic Kitchen is another popular local spot for Irish fare and a festive ambiance.
