Rockport is located at the very top of Cape Ann, about an hour's drive northeast of Boston.
The Essex Coastal Scenic Byway will take you through several quaint towns with beautiful scenery. You can also travel to Rockport via the commuter rail train. Rockport is bordered by water on three sides, so the views are amazing no matter where you are in town.
Halibut Point is a gorgeous place to go for a hike. This state park was once a granite quarry.
Download a brochure and take a self-guided tour to learn all about the history of Babson Farm Quarry. Enjoy tide pools, rock formations, and ocean views along the way. The easy hike is less than a mile long.
The area known as Bear Skin Neck is a popular place to take a stroll.
This historic spot is now full of specialty shops, restaurants, and art galleries. Homemade crafts, jewelry, and pottery are a few of the one-of-a-kind items that you will find here.
While you are in the area, you will definitely want to stop for some fresh seafood.

Be sure to leave some time to take a walk on the beach or even a dip in the water.
Rockport has several beaches to explore.
Or take a boat ride to Thatcher Island to see the twin lighthouses. They are two of the oldest in the country.
They can also be viewed from several spots in town.

This iconic fishing shack has been the subject of numerous paintings and is considered to be a symbol of the town.
