Because of this painting, Stockbridge became famous. To give a bit of background, Norman Rockwell had lived in Stockbridge for 25 years. His art studio, which was moved from its original site to the grounds of the Norman Rockwell Museum, can still be visited today. This year, Stockbridge will host its 36th annual Stockbridge Main Street at Christmas celebration from Dec. 6-7, 2025. During the celebration, there will be a recreation of the Rockwell painting that made this town famous, as well as activities, attractions, performances, a historic holiday property tour, and classic 1950s cars on display along Main Street. It's one of the best places to enjoy the holidays in Massachusetts.
While you're in town, visit Naumkeag Winterlights. This gorgeous garden display of twinkling lights on the Naumkeag Estate is one of the best places to celebrate Christmas in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. This year's Winterlights will be held from Nov. 28, 2025, to Jan. 3, 2026, on Wednesdays through Sundays, 4:30-9 p.m. Tickets can be purchased through The Trustees of Reservations website.
