However, even hopping in the car and hitting the road can hit our wallets hard with rising gas prices. We decided to try something different and put together some affordable trips in Massachusetts that won't cost more than $100 for a family of four. Have a look at the route and see if this is a trip you wish to embark on.

1. Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art, Amherst
The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art is a colorful family-friendly museum that kids and adults alike will love. Enjoy interactive exhibits and view thousands of illustrations. It's an extraordinary space to explore.
Cost: $9 per adult and $6 per child (ages 1 through 18), senior, teacher, or student. Members visit for free.
2. Beneski Museum of Natural History, Amherst

3. Yankee Candle, South Deerfield

4. Berkshire Museum, Pittsfield
View art and learn a bit of history and science at the Berkshire Museum. Children will love the aquarium and special exhibits while adults will be intrigued by the historical displays and art. You can learn more on the Berkshires Museum website.
