Located in Woodstock, Maine Mineral Adventures is more than just a simple mine.

It's actually the best way to spend your day if you love Maine's native gems and minerals!

Experiences with Maine Mineral Adventures come in two forms - field trips and their own mine run buckets.

You can search for and find gems and minerals right in Woodstock by sifting through what's called "mine run bucket."

These are searchable mounds of dirt from local mines that are rich in possible gems.

But the field trips truly offer an immersive experience.

Mt. Mica, Ryerson Hill Mines, The Orchard Quarry, The Bennett Quarry, Intergalactic Quarry and Albany Rose are all sites rich for the digging!

Visits to actual mines mean you can dig through their dumps of earth to find gems just like actual geologists would.

The best part is that visitors can learn all about local Maine geology, mining history, and how to identify different minerals.

Though, finding things like tourmaline and rose quartz is pretty cool, too!

Western Maine Mineral Adventures is open from May through October, weather permitting.

So, get there soon or risk having to wait until next spring for your big discovery!

Western Maine Mineral Adventures is located at 1148 S. Main Street in Woodstock, ME. They can be reached on 207-674-3440. Or, check them out here on the internet.
