9 Moments Every New Orleanian Has Had During Summer

New Orleanians experience unique and challenging moments during the hot and humid summer season.

There's a reason the summer isn't a big tourist season for New Orleans. It's hot, it rains practically every day, and the humidity can take your breath away. But that's just a typical day in the life of a New Orleanian in the summer! Here are nine moments every New Orleanian has had during summer. How many can you relate to?

1. Getting a snoball

Nothing kicks off summer like your favorite flavor of snoball! So simple, yet so delicious and refreshing.

2. Wincing at your Entergy bill after the first heat wave

There’s always a slight hesitation when you get that bill, doing some mental math on how cold you’ve kept your house. And then it’s just an expense you accept. It’s worth it!

3. Burning yourself on your seatbelt

Nothing will make you more alert than that searing pain of burning metal on skin!

4. Having to blow your A/C on your steering wheel for a moment for it to cool down

That sun is hot.

5. Giving up on your hair

It’s just too humid.

6. Cold showers

If you can’t get yourself to a snoball stand, a cold shower is the next best step in operation cool down.

7. Wondering if it was this hot last year

Yes, yes it was. And you mentally blocked it out.

8. Start planning a dream vacation anywhere else

If you’re going to be this hot, you might as well be on a beach with a rum-filled coconut somewhere, right?

9. Start counting down the days 'til football season.

Who Dat! Geaux Tigers! Rajun Cajuns! Sports!

Summers may be brutal, but there are plenty of ways to keep cool underneath that summer sun.
