If you ever want to get a vibe check on what life in Louisiana is really like, then you have to make your way out of the big cities and dive into the small towns. Louisiana's small towns are the heartbeat of the state, and each one will give you a beautiful glimpse at how Louisianians live. Eunice, Louisiana is a charming little town in Cajun Country that's perfect for a day trip, but you might just fall in love with it so much that you decide to make a weekend out of it!
With a population that hovers between 9,000 and 10,000 residents, Eunice, Louisiana is the perfect little town to spend a day exploring.

Located in Acadia not far from Opelousas, it's an easy jump on the interstate to reach this Cajun Country town.
It's also one of the rare towns that happen to be in three parishes: St. Landry, Acadia, and Evangeline.
Eunice was founded in 1884 by C.C. Duson and named after his wife, Eunice.
There’s a statue of her downtown that’s worthy of a selfie. Fun fact, C.C. Duson and his brother, W.W. Duson founded nearby Crowley in 1887, just a few years after Eunice.
So, what are some things to do in Eunice, Louisiana? Sitting pretty in the heart of Cajun Country, Eunice embraces its musical roots. The Cajun Country Music Hall of Fame is just one of many museums dedicated to preserving the unique history of Cajun music.

Speaking of Cajun Music, the Liberty Theatre has been a landmark in Eunice since it opened in 1924.
At one time, it was the largest movie palace in the region! In the 1980s, as multiplex cinemas and home theaters became more popular, the theater shifted to become a venue for live performances. As of 2023, The Liberty Center is currently under new ownership and being restored to its former glory, and we can’t wait to hear live music within these walls once again.
