Even though we are a coastal state, we sadly don’t get the same benefit of the Gulf as say, Florida does. But that doesn’t mean we don’t have beaches! You just may not know where to look for them. We’ve found some of the best hidden beaches in Louisiana that you’ll love to sink your toes into. This epic road trip will take you about 13 hours and all over the state, so feel free to customize your route to fit your needs.

1. Lake Claiborne State Park

Northern Louisianians love going to Lake Claiborne to get their beach fix. Tucked away on the southern part of Lake Claiborne, this state park’s beach will make you think you’ve been transported to a tropical island. Bring a beach towel and a good book and enjoy the mesmerizing water views. Just don't forget the sunscreen. This is one of the most beautiful hidden beaches in Louisiana.

2. Jimmie Davis State Park

Located on a peninsula on Caney Lake, Jimmie Davis State Park has a long narrow beach for you to relax on. There’s also a playground at the park for when the kids need a break from the lake. It's one of the best secret beaches in Louisiana to take the family.

3. South Toledo Bend State Park

The Toledo Bend Reservoir may be known for its extraordinary fishing, but South Toledo Bend State Park has a lovely little beach that is perfect for when you need to take a break from casting your pole. You may even spot a bald eagle soaring through the sky, so keep your eyes peeled.

4. North Beach

A very popular beach in the summer, North Beach in Lake Charles is the only white-sand inland beach from Texas to Florida.

5. Holly Beach

Located in Cameron, this beach overlooks the Gulf of Mexico and offers some great sunset views. The beach is perfect for hunting for seashells, and there are cabins you can stay at as well.

6. Cypremort Point State Park

Cypremort Point is a great place to fish, picnic, or just catch some rays while you lay in the sand. There’s a designated swimming area away from the boats. Overlooking the Vermillion Bay, you’ll want to stay until sunset because the views are phenomenal. It's one of the most gorgeous Louisiana beaches to visit.

7. White Sands Lake Day Beach

White Sands Lake Day Beach is fun for everyone. A lovely little beach to sink your toes in and an amazing aqua park with water trampolines, slides, and everyone’s favorite—the blob bag! They offer daily beach passes, season passes, and group rates.
