Do you remember your first trip to the zoo, when every animal was amazing and it felt like the best day ever? Well, you and your family can relive that at this wildlife park in Kansas that lets you interact with plenty of their exotic animals during your visit. For those of us that love animals of all shapes and sizes, this is the place to be.
Welcome to Tanganyika Wildlife Park, an adventure with a whole day's worth of adventures to be had.
Once you walk in these gates, you're greeted with a well-kept facility and animals everywhere you look.
Tanganyika started with one man's dream to own his own zoo, having spent time working for the Sedgwick County Zoo and nurturing a love for animals of all kinds. Today, the keepers here keep that dream alive.
In 1985, Jim Fouts bought land in Goddard, Kansas and later became a breeding facility for exotic animals, when their first pair of tigers had cubs of their own. It officially opened to the public in 2008, after they built a zoo from the ground up and dedicated their lives to making this dream a reality. Today, it's a fantastic facility where you can meet animals from all over the world and watch their babies grow up right here in Kansas.
While you're here, enjoy interacting with the animals directly in a one-of-a-kind experience.
Have you ever wanted to pet a little kangaroo, feed a hippo or lemur, or participate in a penguin swim? Here, you can do all of those things and more, especially with the help of an animal encounters pass. Of course, those do cost a bit extra, but for a special day out with family, supporting this zoo is worth every penny.
When the kids are done with animals, they can monkey around on their own.
This is especially useful for those of us who have kids or grandkids with surplus energy. What better way to tire them out than let them climb up and see the park from up high?
Tanganyika also has multiple events throughout the year for members and non-members alike.
Halloween, Easter, and other celebrations are a blast at this wildlife park where the animals take part in the fun as much as you do. For the most part, these events help support the park's animals directly, buying food as well as paying for housing and care.
A day at this wildlife park is one you'll never forget, especially with loved ones.
Tanganyika is open from 10::30am to 4:00pm Mondays through Thursdays, and from 10:30am to 5:00pm the rest of the week. However, some animals might not be out and about on days where it's below 60 degrees outside.
Tanganyika Wildlife Park is located at 1037 S 183rd St. West, Goddard, Kansas. Or, just use the map below to help you navigate your way there instead.
