How This Small Kansas Town Quietly Became The Coolest Place In The Midwest
A small Kansas town is highlighted for its rich history and charm, making it one of the coolest places in the Midwest.
We've featured many Kansas towns so far. Some are weird, like Lucas, and others are filled with their roots, like Lindsborg. However, this one small town is so full of history and charm that we think it might be the coolest place in the Midwest. We've featured it in lists before, but never shined a spotlight its way. This town is definitely a shining example of how charming Kansas is, and how much we love small town life. Well, what are you waiting for, let's go take a look!
Starting with the local scenery, the Chase State Fishing Lake is the best place to start. There's an amazing amount of wildlife to be found here, as well as fishing, hunting, and camping. Plus, just look at that view!
The town of Cottonwood Falls itself is locally known to have the most beautiful courthouse in the state. It was built in 1873, and is the oldest operating courthouse in all of Kansas! It sits at the head of the scenic Broadway street.
Another great point of interest is the town's first jail, which is still standing today from back in the 1870's.
The inside hosts a creepy jailbird and a plaque with information on the jail's usage back in the day. I can't imagine only needing one cell! It's located near the corner of Main and State St.
The Grand Central Hotel & Grill is a great place right on Broadway where you can stay overnight or just come for a meal.
This restaurant offers fine dining without all the stuffiness, and a great selection of all sorts of meals. The food is simply delicious!
Another great place to spend some time would be Tallgrass Antiques, where you might just find that one piece you've been looking for. They're located on Broadway as well.
Afterwards, the most cozy place to spend the night by far is at Stone Horse Bed & Breakfast, where you're met with this charming exterior...
...only to find warm, country styled rooms for all sizes, with plenty of features to make sure your stay is a perfect one. They're located at 201 Locust St.
Afterwards, make sure to take in the scenery around the town, and really get out and explore. Who knows what you might find?
Can't you see why Cottonwood Falls is by far the coolest town in the Midwest?
After this amazing town, you should add these stunning Kansas attractions to your bucket lists.
