If you haven't made plans for a long weekend in the Davenport area this weekend yet, now's the time! There's plenty to do and see before the weather gets cold, and the fall foliage is simply amazing this time of year.

There are more than 100 miles of biking and hiking trails to explore in the area.

The Great River Trail is 62.5 miles, and the longest of the area trails. Arsenal Island is an easy three-mile ride or hike.

You can even cross the Mississippi River on the Government Bridge sidewalk and the Rock Island viaduct bridge. The Centennial Bridge also has a sidewalk thats separated from vehicle traffic.

RIverWay Trail is a scenic 13-mile, paved trail that starts at Credit Island Park in Davenport and takes riders through historic villages, beautiful neighborhoods, and riverfront parks.

There's more than one way to cross the river, and the Channel Cat is certainly one of the most popular options.

This water taxi offers an up-close view of the river during a one-hour round trip from any departure point. Passengers often get on and off at various docks to see the local sights.

There's plenty of natural beauty in this area. As the leaves change this fall, people will come from all over the world to see the blazing colors.

When you are ready to come back to civilization, stop in at the Wide River Winery in Clinton or spend some time in the nearby town of LeClaire.

This giant market is open every Saturday from 8 am until 1 pm. May through October, the hours are Wednesday 8 am until 1 pm, Saturday 8 am to 1 pm, and Sunday 10 am to 2 pm.
