Driving Down This Haunted Indiana Road Will Give You Nightmares

Blood Road near Dunkirk, Indiana, is rumored to be the most haunted road in the state due to its dark, tragic history.

There are a plethora of haunted places in Indiana, as well as spooky catacombs. While Indiana has its fair share of paranormal places, there is one road in particular rumored to send chills up your spine. Blood Road just outside of Dunkirk has a dark, tragic story that might just make it the most haunted road in all of Indiana.

Located just north of Muncie, Dunkirk is a pretty small town. The haunted road in this story is actually County Road 700, which runs just outside of Dunkirk, and is referred to as Blood Road...and for good reason.

Legend has it that some time ago, a farmer and his young son would ride up and down this road, from the fields to the woods, working. Every time they drove, the son would always hop out of the back of the truck while it was still driving, much to his father’s dismay. So, one day, the father decided to tie a chain around the boys waist and the other end to his truck, to keep his son safe in the truck bed.

On this particular day, the farmer hit a large bump in the road and his son fell out of the truck. The farmer didn’t realize the boy had fallen and continued driving, dragging his son for two miles along the road, leaving a trail of blood along the road. According to the story, the farmer was so hysterical over what had happened that he buried his son in the basement of their house, which is also believed to be haunted.

To this day, people claim you can still see the trail of blood on the road if you head south down it, though it will not be visible when driving north. People also claim if you listen closely, you can hear a young boy's voice calling "Daddy."
