Surprise! Indiana's an amazing place to visit, live, and/or work - everyone who lives here already knows that. But, during the winter, something especially magical happens: certain cities and towns truly come alive. Sure, everything's usually covered in a layer of snow, but at this time of year, that kind of thing only adds to the magic. Take, for example, the ULTIMATE Christmas town in Indiana. Sure, most towns love the Christmas season, but this one is SO dedicated that the entire town is all about Christmas... 24/7/365. It's even in the name itself: Santa Claus.
Truly, I'm not sure there's another holiday-themed town in the world like this one.
Santa Claus is somehow simultaneously totally Indiana and wonderfully worldly; every year, it gets thousands of letters from children writing to Santa... and every one gets a reply.
Here, it's Christmas year-round, with tons of holiday-centric shops and restaurants around town.
For example, Santa's Candy Castle is truly as sweet and wonderful as it sounds: it is, after all, a Christmas-themed candy shop with all the sugar inside you could ever hope for.
The big guy himself makes many an appearance at this time, too - why wouldn't he?
It's his town, after all. He's even got his name on it.
Other must-do Christmas attractions in Santa Claus include the wonder that is the annual Santa Claus Land of Lights.
I'm pretty sure that you'll want to make a whole family tradition out of it; it's the embodiment of holiday magic right here in our backyards.
Other must-see spots around Santa Claus (seriously, how cute is that town name though) include the Santa Claus Museum, the Christmas Lake Golf Course, and Frosty's Fun Center.
Most folks who have heard of Santa Claus, however, have heard of it for another reason: the absolutely epic theme park you'll find in town.
Holiday World is credited as being the first amusement park, beating out all the well-known ones by at least a decade or two.
With five awesome roller coasters and including themes of Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween and the Fourth of July, this one's a must-do for ANY Hoosier and/or visitor to the Hoosier State.
So, come on out to the most enchanting Christmas town in Indiana - if not the whole United States.
No matter what time of year it is, Santa Claus will always be waiting with open arms to welcome you back.
