Ready to set on an exceptional journey? Scroll on to check it out. And don't forget to designate a sober driver before hitting the road!
This trip requires approximately three hours of driving time, so it may be best to start as early as you can. Also be sure to note that most of the attractions are in the west-central part of Indiana (south of Lafayette, and west of Indianapolis).
You can begin this trip at either end of the trail. And here's a link to the customizable version of the map.
Williamsport Falls
Our wine and waterfalls day trip in Indiana begins with a 1.6-mile hike to the state's second-highest waterfall. This 90-foot-tall falls is picture-perfect as it plunges from its bluff. You can relax and climb all over the place and enjoy the waterfall from different angles.
Windy Ridge Winery & Distillery
Once you've had your first fill of nature, you'll be off to your first fill of wine on what may very well become one of your favorite day trips in Indiana. In business since 2012, Windy Ridge Winery & Distillery was once comprised of six acres of vineyards growing many types of grapes in Cayuga. Since then, the Cayuga location has closed and a shop in Covington was opened. In addition to wine, this place also distills brandy and moonshine. Stop by to try their award-winning vino or partake in a spirit tasting. For more information, you can visit the official website of Windy Ridge Winery & Distillery.
Cataract Falls
You'll enjoy a scenic hour-and-a-half drive as you make your way to the state's most popular falls next. The best thing about this place is that it's actually two waterfalls in one. Known as the largest falls in the state by volume, it consists of an upper and lower section that are separated by about a mile. The Upper Falls has a 20-foot plunge as well as a charming covered bridge nearby. You'll likely want to spend a few hours exploring this place.
The Sycamore Winery
Last but certainly not least, we've arrived at the final destination of our wine and waterfalls day trip in Indiana: the Sycamore Winery. In business since 2017, this magnificent place doubles as a gorgeous event venue and is ideal for weddings. You'll love admiring the vast skies and endless rolling vineyards as far as the eye can see. The place specializes in wines made from fruits other than grapes, such as peaches and strawberries, and it also specializes in beer and cider. The wine tasting room's hours are traditionally noon to 8:00 p.m. Thursday through Saturday as well as noon to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. For more information on planning your visit, check out the official website.
