This Charming Community Might Just Be the Most Peaceful Place to Live in Georgia
Looking for a peaceful city in Georgia? Holly Springs is a suburb of Atlanta with parks, history, and plenty of attractions.
The entire Atlanta metropolitan area is growing in leaps and bounds, and the city seems to be spreading out farther and farther, geographically speaking. Even in many of the Atlanta suburbs, it can feel difficult to find any tranquility. There is one place, however, that has managed to retain its small town charm despite its fairly rapid growth over the last few years. I'm talking about Holly Springs, Georgia. The city is situated in Cherokee County, just outside of the hip community of Woodstock—one of the coolest towns in Georgia—and it has grown tremendously over the last few decades. Nevertheless, Holly Springs still manages to feel like a smaller town than it really is—but it has all the conveniences you'd expect from a small city of around 16,000 people in a major metropolitan area.
Due to the city's population growth over the last few years, a new Holly Springs Town Center is under development. Holly Springs Town Center is designed to be a throwback to walkable main street districts of the past, where shops and restaurants are close by, and spaces for special events are centrally located. The latter feature is particularly important, as the city hosts a variety of events throughout the year, with festivals and markets, it seems, for almost all of the major seasons and holidays. In fall 2025, the city and developers are breaking ground on the Town Center's new amphitheater, which will be a hub for community celebrations.
Like many communities in this part of the state, Holly Springs is a serene town with a rich history and much to enjoy. It was built primarily around the region's rail lines. In fact, a historic train depot remains today and has been restored in loving detail.
You'll find numerous other historic sites and natural spaces around the area, as well. For example, J.B. Owens Park is a great spot to spend some time outside. The 33-acre park has a playground and more than a mile of trails to explore.
If you work up an appetite and find yourself craving a bite to eat, Sidelines Grille is a local chain that has a wonderful location in Holly Springs. It's a neighborhood sports bar that serves up delicious eats and is a fantastic place to meet up with friends or watch a game.
