The Tiny City Of Woodstock, Georgia Is A Walkable Wonderland With A Bustling Outdoor Scene

There is a city outside of Atlanta that deserves a weekend of exploration, especially for those who love to be outside in a walkable space. Woodstock, Georgia is a place that is flush with community pride but also brimming with life and nature. With tons of hiking and biking trails, plus a quaint downtown area with over 30 locally-owned shops and restaurants, come see what Woodstock is all about.

Just a mere 30 miles outside of Atlanta, you’ll find the charming city of Woodstock, Georgia.

What has been dubbed one of the fastest cities in Northern Georgia, the growth of this place has a history that is rooted in gold.

When the 10-mile wide gold belt discovery led to the Gold Rush, about 3,000 men reportedly came to Woodstock in search of gold.

The town eventually grew, going from about 300 people back in the late 1800s to over 30,000 to date.

Besides the history of this town making it a perfect place to settle down, it’s also the fact that it has a vibrant outdoor scene and plenty of walkable area.

Before you start your exploration of Woodstock, make sure to stop first at the Woodstock Visitor’s Center located in Dean’s Store, which is rich with history and information.

Then as you’re walking the downtown area, you’ll be able to enjoy plenty of mom-and-pop shops and locally-owned restaurants to explore.

If you’re hungry, grab a meal in the old Woodstock train depot which is now a delicious restaurant known as Freight Kitchen and Tap.

For those itching to be outside getting some exercise, check out the Olde Rope Mill Park, which has tons of trails worth checking out.

Or if you’re an avid biker, there are also 23+ miles of beginner and advanced mountain biking and hiking trails that will show you a more natural side of the city.

Also, if you want to really see what this community has to offer, then visit during a seasonal event as they usually go all out in celebration.
