The Georgia Breakfast Spot With Biscuits As Big As Your Head
Looking for the best biscuits near Athens, GA? Head to Angie's Place and indulge in the most satisfying biscuit sandwich that money can buy.
There's something quite special about tiny, down-home restaurants, often found in small towns, that are no-frills but absolutely delicious, isn't there? It can sometimes feel like chain restaurants are taking over the world, and while those are certainly tasty and have great meals, I make a point to try to buy locally whenever possible. Local mom-and-pop shops are the places that keep our small communities thriving. They’re the beloved joints where folks gather to exchange stories and keep their heritage alive.
If you enjoy supporting local businesses in Georgia and live in or near the little town of Hull, just outside of Athens, then I’ve got the most delightful place for you. One wonderful joint to keep your dollars local is Angie's Place. This unassuming breakfast restaurant in Georgia is far from fancy, but trust me, it has some of the most delicious and biggest biscuits around. Come hungry, as these fluffy biscuits are so massive they’ll keep you full all day long. Check it out:

You'll find Angie's Place in the heart of the town of Hull, along State Route 72. With under 250 residents, Hull is what you would expect from a small town in Georgia: friendly folks with a strong sense of community.
I had driven by this cozy restaurant a ton of times but had never actually stopped by until recently. One thing I have always noticed while driving by is that the parking lot is always packed. When I say packed, I mean packed. There are typically cars in every parking spot and lots around, plus on the sidewalks. So, is this mom-and-pop restaurant in Georgia worth the hype? Absolutely!

Inside, you'll find a pretty straightforward setup, with plastic tables that even strangers were gathering around. It felt familiar and filled with laughter and chatter from the patrons. The menu is basic breakfast food, and don't expect anything fancy here. Instead, you'll find a friendly atmosphere serving comfort food with a side of Southern hospitality and plenty for everyone to enjoy.
Some of the homemade biscuit sandwiches include bacon, tenderloin, smoked link, and you can also order breakfast platters like French Toast and pancakes served with grits and a choice of meat. I opted for a cheese biscuit and hash brown with cheese grits. Everyone's plate that I spotted looked quite full, and the prices were very reasonable, especially for the amount of food you got.

As a Georgia native, I consider myself something of a biscuit connoisseur, and these biscuits are amazing. Not only are they massive, but between the perfect texture and the huge size, these are easily some of the best biscuits near Athens, GA. After you visit, chances are you will think so, too!
This place is pretty old-fashioned and doesn't have a website or Facebook page. So, it's obvious that the delicious comfort food is worth the hype. You can find Angie's Place at 10336 Hull Colbert Rd, Hull, GA 30646, and the phone number is (706) 546-6141.

I love Athens, and it's one of my favorite towns in Georgia for a day trip. One thing I like most is the wonderful little towns that surround it, like Hull. If you're looking to explore the area, the Classic City is a great home base. Check out The Graduate Athens for a great place to stay in town.
