The Small Town In Florida That Transforms Into A Magical Christmas Wonderland

White Springs, Florida, is known for its rich history and the annual Festival of Lights at Stephen Foster Cultural Center State Park.

White Springs is tiny but rich in history. Though the North Florida town has a population of fewer than 800 people, few places celebrate Florida's culture and and keep its history alive like White Springs.

The town was once a popular retreat and Florida's first tourist attraction known for its healing waters.

Today, a major draw for the town is the Stephen Foster Cultural Center State Park, especially during its Florida Folk Festival, which has been held every Memorial Day weekend for more than 60 years. But you don't have to wait until the spring to enjoy this park.

That's because this scenic state park transforms every year into a magical Christmas wonderland. The annual Festival of Lights takes place in Stephen Foster Cultural Center State Park every December.

During the festival's run from December 1st through December 24th, there are Holiday Magic Nights and Silent Nights.

Holiday Magic Nights feature snow flurries, a train display, craft activities, and more.

Folks can gather around the bonfire for free hot cocoa and marshmallow roasting while the iconic Tower plays music. And of course, what would the evening be without a visit from Santa?

Silent Nights take place on certain weeknights and Christmas Eve for those who want to skip the activities and just enjoy the beautiful light displays at their own leisure.

On Silent Nights, folks are welcome to spend a serene evening walking through the lights with family and friends and taking photos of the impressive displays without the hustle and bustle of the Holiday Magic Nights.

December 4th through 7th, 11th through 14th, and the 24th will be Silent Nights, and every other night will be a Holiday Magic Night. Both Silent Nights and Holiday Magic Nights run from 4:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (with the last tickets sold at 8:30 p.m. every night).

Holiday Magic Nights: $3.00 per person (children under 3 are free). Silent Nights: $2.00 per person (children under 3 are free). On opening night, December 1st, there will also be a parade, and the park asks guests to bring a new, unwrapped toy for admission.
