This charming coastal town on the Gulf has a seemingly endless number of things to do. This easy-to-plan getaway is your go-to guide for exploration.

Florida has many wonderful beach towns, some situated up and down the Atlantic and others on the Gulf side. But for many people new to exploring the state, it can be difficult to choose where to start. That's where we come in as your Florida travel experts. Living in Florida all my life, I know the ins and outs of this state, which is why I've researched an easy-to-plan getaway in a charming coastal town. Dunedin, Florida, is brimming with activities that first-time visitors will love. Known for its walkable downtown and small-town charm, Dunedin offers a little something for everyone.

Start by exploring Downtown Dunedin, where historic buildings house unique shops, art galleries, and local breweries. Stroll along Main Street to soak in the town's electric, welcoming atmosphere. Don’t miss Penny Lane Beatles Museum, either! This is the ultimate tribute to the iconic band, perfect for music enthusiasts.

Nature lovers should head to Honeymoon Island State Park, one of Florida’s most picturesque beaches. Set up a lounge chair on its white sands, swim in crystal-clear waters, or explore the trails where you might spot osprey or gopher tortoises. A short ferry ride takes you to Caladesi Island, another pristine, secluded beach ideal for kayaking or shelling.

For a dose of local flavor, visit the Dunedin Brewery, Florida's oldest craft brewery, or sample fresh seafood at one of the waterfront restaurants. Don’t miss Bon Appétit, located at the marina, for delicious meals with stunning views. You're on the Gulf, after all, so you might as well get in some local fresh fish! This restaurant is lauded for having some of the best views as you dine.

Any sports enthusiasts in the audience? In Dunedin, during certain times of the year, you can catch a Toronto Blue Jays spring training game at TD Ballpark! The stadium’s intimate setting offers an up-close experience with the team.

While many overnight accommodations are available in Dunedin, we have the perfect place to take any additional guesswork out. The Best Western Plus Yacht Harbor is an absolute gem right on the water's edge. Perfect for families, solo travelers, and romantic getaways, this resort sits right on the Gulf with impeccable views from nearly every room. Situated at Marina Plaza, it overlooks St. Joseph Sound and offers direct Gulf of Mexico access. Guests enjoy rooms with balconies or patios and a newly remodeled breakfast area featuring views of Main Street and the Marina. A complimentary hot breakfast is included.

Also, it doesn't hurt to have a car to get around town, right? Rent a car in Dunedin and make getting to and from much easier. It helps when you have a car to explore different parts of town and even venture out to nearby state parks and other unique points of interest.
