When you think of wine regions in the United States, the Nutmeg State may not be the first place to come to mind. However, there is a burgeoning wine industry in Connecticut. Visiting a winery is such a delightful experience. Learning about how the wine is produced, seeing the grapes grow on the vines, and, of course, sampling the wares are some of the best joys you can get in life. There's no better time to visit wineries in Connecticut than now. Springtime is here, and the vineyards are beautiful, all decked out in their seasonal greenery!

1. Land of Nod Vineyard and Winery: 99 Lower Rd, East Canaan, CT 06024
Your first stop is at the lovely Land of Nod Winery. This place has been around since before the American Revolution and gets its name from a Robert Louis Stevenson poem. The 200-acre farm sells not only wine, but also yarn made from the farm's sheep and locally-produced goodies like maple syrup. You can get more information on the Land of Nod website.
2. Jerram Winery: 535 Town Hill Rd, New Hartford, CT 06057
Next up on our Connecticut wine trail road trip is Jerram Winery. This little vineyard offers up 11 different wines. They're open during the growing season each year. You can get more information and hours on Jerram Winery's Facebook.
3. Kent Falls State Park: 462 Kent Cornwall Rd, Kent, CT 06757
You'll then take a brief break from all the vineyards to head to the beautiful Kent Falls State Park, because, really, is there any better pairing than wine and waterfalls in Connecticut? This 307-acre state park has been named the most beautiful place in Connecticut and it's easy to see why. The waterfall that shares the park's name is a series of glorious cascades totaling 250 feet.
Ready for even more wine? The Jones Family Farm is an excellent option. This sprawling farm has a variety of activities throughout the year. You may be familiar with their u-pick fruit in the summer, fall pumpkin patches, or Christmas trees in the winter. One thing that stays around all year, though, is their wine!

As a book lover, there's nothing I love more than checking out a bookstore. Sure, I'm well aware that my "to read" list is getting completely out of hand and unless I quit working, socializing, and pretty much all aspects of my life that aren't reading, I have no hope of ever finishing it. Even so, there's no reason not to try! For our next stop, we’ll travel to the adorable little town of Madison. You’ll find plenty of delightful shops here, but one of our favorites has got to be RJ Julia Booksellers.
This two-story bookstore is considered one of the top independent bookstores in the entire country. Author signings and book club meetings are a regular occurrence here.
Bennett's Books is one of those delightful little shops that makes you remember the joys of in-person shopping. I think we're probably all guilty of a little too much online ordering, but this place is so cozy and comfortable that it's hard not to fall in love the second you walk in the door!
No list of bookstores in Connecticut would be complete without mentioning The Book Barn in Niantic, and that's where we'll end our trip. There are actually three separate locations for this massive store, but we're focusing on the main one on this road trip.
This multi-building store houses more than 500,000 books, plus other fun attractions, like art installations and gardens. It doesn't get much better than a visit here!
