With the kids out of school for the summer, now is the perfect time to start planning a road trip. This small town petting zoo in Connecticut has endless amenities, making it perfect for a summer road trip with the family. Gas up the car, because today we are headed to the tiny town of West Simsbury where there’s a hidden gem that the whole family will enjoy. Let’s check it out.
Welcome to Flamig Farm, a century-old farm nestled in a tiny community of West Simsbury in Hartford County.
Founded in 1907, this picture-perfect farm is most well-known for their massive backwards EGGS sign on the side of the barn. What was supposed to be an advertisement ended up being too big for it to pass through zoning (the letters are almost 5-foot tall) so they decided to stick the letters up against their barn backwards and call it "art."

There’s a lot to do here at Flamig Farm. Offered on the weekends from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., pony rides are one of the farm’s most popular activities.
Of course, the petting zoo is always a fun activity for all ages.
Their walkable petting zoo is open from April until November from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Pet alpacas, feed goats, or snuggle with bunnies… All of the animals that live on the farm are gentle, adorable, friendly animals that love attention.

As a book lover, there's nothing I love more than checking out a bookstore. Sure, I'm well aware that my "to read" list is getting completely out of hand and unless I quit working, socializing, and pretty much all aspects of my life that aren't reading, I have no hope of ever finishing it. Even so, there's no reason not to try! If you feel the same way and are hoping to enjoy a great road trip in the Nutmeg State, we've got the perfect one for you: a literary road trip in Connecticut that will take you to some of the state's best bookstores. Bennett's Books is one of those delightful little shops that makes you remember the joys of in-person shopping. I think we're probably all guilty of a little too much online ordering, but this place is so cozy and comfortable that it's hard not to fall in love the second you walk in the door!
Bennett's specializes in used books, so you can even save a little money by purchasing your next read here.
5. The Book Barn
No list of bookstores in Connecticut would be complete without mentioning The Book Barn in Niantic, and that's where we'll end our trip. There are actually three separate locations for this massive store, but we're focusing on the main one on this road trip.
