When the weather starts warming up, people's minds turn towards planning a vacation. Whether you like to go during spring break or wait until summer is in full force, many of us love to take a vacation during the warmer months. It can be tough to pick a vacation in Connecticut, especially if you're a fan of beach towns. We have so many great beach towns in Connecticut! One of our favorites is East Lyme. We went ahead and did the hard work for you and chose a few spots that you might find worth visiting, check them out:
Niantic Boardwalk, 30 Main St, Niantic, CT 06357
Niantic is a little village within East Lyme and it's got one of our favorite boardwalks in Connecticut. You can't beat the views here! Whether you're looking to sip a coffee while sitting on a bench or prefer to stroll the length of the boardwalk, this place is heaven.
Rocky Neck State Park: 244 W Main St, Niantic, CT 06357
Rocky Neck State Park is another of our favorite spots in the state. Here, you'll find beautiful hikes, wildlife, and more.
This 710-acre park backs right up against Long Island Sound and has a great beach.
Florence Griswold Museum: 96 Lyme St, Old Lyme, CT 06371
The Florence Griswold Museum is part of East Lyme's expansive arts district. The museum has a stunning art gallery.
The Florence Griswold Museum is also renowned for its incredible gardens, which are some of the most beautiful in the Nutmeg State.
The Book Barn: 41 W Main St, Niantic, CT 06357
When it comes to book stores in Connecticut, it doesn't get much bigger or better than Book Barn. This enormous used book store has multiple locations in Niantic and has over 500,000 books. It's a day trip in and of itself!
Samuel Smith Farmstead: 82 Plants Dam Rd, East Lyme, CT 06333
The Samuel Smith Farmstead is open seasonally from Memorial Day to Labor Day. It's a colonial-era home that is in the midst of a restoration to make it as historically accurate as possible. This is a great way to learn more about the state's fascinating history.
Niantic Children's Museum: 409 Main St, Niantic, CT 06357
The Children's Museum in Niantic is one of the best museums in Connecticut. The 5,000-square foot facility boasts indoor and outdoor interactive exhibits and even offers $1 admission on certain days.
