Why This One Little Town Is Arkansas’s Best Kept Secret
Mountain View is a small town known for its rich Ozark traditions, live music, and beautiful scenery.
Mountain View is a town of under 3,000 residents, but what it lacks in population it more than makes up for in character. You see, Mountain View is sort of the protector of Ozark traditions. It’s a working memory for the people of the hills. There you can find a quaint little town with fabulous and frequent live music, beautiful scenery, and enough to see and learn that you’ll want to unpack your suitcase and stay forever.
Please note, Blanchard Springs Caverns is temporarily closed.
It’s the folk music capital of the world.
Mountain View is home to Ozark Folk Center State Park, where visitors can learn about traditional Ozark culture. From weavers to potters to dancers, Ozark artists and artisans give demonstrations that you won’t soon forget.
The downtown area is adorable.
Stone County Courthouse is old and awesome.
It was built in 1922, out of native stone. It’s on the National Register of Historic Places.
Mountain View, of course, sometimes uses the beautiful old courthouse for music and dancing. It's just that kind of town.
The landscape is incredible. This is due in large part to Mountain View’s location in the Ozark National Forest and near the White River. Hiking and trout fishing are popular activities.
Loco Ropes is right in town, and it’s available for the more adventurous among us.
From the city center, you can get to Blanchard Springs Caverns in about twenty minutes. Here are those gorgeous caverns:
