Yuma, Arizona Is The Sunniest City In The World, And It’s The Perfect Summer Destination

Yuma, Arizona, the sunniest city in the world, offers a variety of outdoor adventures, historic sites, and unique dining experiences.

Phoenix might be known as the "Valley of the Sun," but it's outshined by another Arizona city. Yuma is the single-sunniest city in the entire world, and it makes a perfect summer destination for the whole family.

Holding the Guinness World Record of being the sunniest city on Earth, Yuma is a southern Arizona town brimming with charm.

Nestled along the pristine Colorado River, it's the perfect place to spend a few days in the summertime.

When it comes to outdoor adventure, the options are plentiful.

From touring a former Army supply depot at Colorado River State Historic Park to traipsing through 400 acres of sprawling wetlands at the Yuma Crossing National Heritage Area, there's no shortage of breathtaking natural areas to explore.

Perhaps the most famous destination in town is Yuma Territorial Prison Park.

Built in 1876, the prison held several thousand inmates before closing 33 years later. Today, you can walk through the unforgiving strap iron cellblocks and imagine what life would've been like in such a cruel place.

Next up, it's time to go on a date!

Martha's Gardens is a family-owned and operated date farm with the juiciest Medjool dates you've ever tasted. Don't leave without trying one of their world-famous date shakes!

Now that you've seen a lot of the high points, it's time for some grub.

You can't go wrong with a meal at The Chile Pepper, a circa-1950s eatery that dishes out homemade tortillas and other Mexican staples.

After dinner, we'll grab a drink at Prison Hill Brewing Company.

It's the only craft brewery in town, and you can really taste the unparalleled quality that on-site production yields.

Finally, the time to lay your head down for the night has arrived.

There's no better place to stay than the Historic Coronado Motor Hotel, with its charming Spanish-style architecture and convenient location near Yuma's major landmarks.
