Small towns are my favorite places to explore, but I prefer them when they're close to popular local attractions so I don't feel too isolated. This log cabin in Flagstaff, Arizona — my personal favorite small town in the Grand Canyon State — is perfect because it's private and secluded, yet just a stone's throw away from area hiking trails and other can't-miss destinations.

Surrounded by trees and boasting incredible mountain views, this quaint and cozy cabin is the ultimate getaway for any time of the year. You'll feel right at home with all of the modern amenities while enjoying the rejuvenation that comes from being immersed in nature.

Flagstaff is a charming mountain town known for its epic winters (it's the snowiest town in Arizona!), but it also boasts incredible shops and restaurants, beautiful nature, ancient history, and it's located near the nostalgic Route 66. With so many attractions in and around town, I can't imagine a better home base than this 2,400-square-foot log cabin. Built into the side of a mountain and surrounded by forestland, it’s situated on 2.5 acres and provides a secluded escape from the city while being just minutes from historic downtown Flagstaff.

The spacious, three-story cabin sleeps up to six guests in three bedrooms (four beds total). It has two full bathrooms. Charmingly rustic decor imparts a cozy feel, while modern touches like updated appliances, gorgeous countertops, and walk-in showers allow guests to relax in style. The kitchen is fully stocked with cooking basics, and the living room features plenty of comfortable seating, a large TV with streaming capability, and a lovely stone fireplace. Each of the other two floors also has its own fireplace.

What makes this cabin a real gem is its outdoor spaces. The wraparound deck is perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee and watching local wildlife in the forest, and the patio has a fire pit and Adirondack chairs for those chilly northern Arizona nights. There’s even a treehouse for the kids!

Plus, popular destinations like Humphrey's Peak and the Arizona Snowbowl are nearby, so you can enjoy all the beauty this unique area offers without straying too far from your base camp.

Please note that it’s best to have either a 4WD vehicle or snow chains if you plan on renting the cabin in the winter. Snow plow service is provided.
