I Don’t Ski, But the Snow Tubing in Arizona is Incredible

Skip the ski slopes and grab a snow tube at one of Arizona’s most exhilarating winter destinations.

I grew up in New England, and although my family lived within an hour or two of several ski resorts, it just wasn't something I was interested in doing. I've tried skiing, but there was always something about having two long, flat skis attached to my feet that felt so restricting. However, I always found sledding and snow tubing to be quite freeing, unrestricted by anything attached to my feet—just me on a sled or a tube hurtling down a snowy hill at high speeds. Now that I've lived in Arizona for over a decade, I find myself in Flagstaff often enough during the winter in search of the best snow tubing in Arizona. If you're not a skier like me and prefer snow tubing over skiing, you must book a session at the Flagstaff Snow Park.

About Flagstaff Snow Park

Located in Fort Tuthill County Park near the Fort Tuthill County Campground, Flagstaff Snow Park is a convenient, family-friendly winter destination in Arizona, just minutes away from 89A and I-17. Purchase a pass, and you'll have access to multiple snow tube runs, snow tubes, and a range of amenities designed to enhance your experience. This is the perfect spot for families to spend several hours or an entire day playing in the snow.

The park's eight tube runs are groomed and cater to all ages, featuring a kiddie hill as well as faster runs for older children and adults who prefer a more thrilling ride on the snow. Snow tube runs range between 140 to 480 feet long. The use of snow tubes is included in the admission price (sleds are not allowed). Flagstaff Snow Park is a great alternative for those who don't ski or snowboard. I also think it's a more fun and carefree way to spend time outdoors in winter, especially with kids.

A Family-Friendly Winter Activity

While I think it's a bit of a challenge to bring kids to a mountain where you can only ski and snowboard, Flagstaff Snow Park feels more laidback. As already mentioned, there's a kiddie snow tubing hill for younger children, ages 8 and under, along with designated natural snow play areas where they can just play and be kids! Families can build a snowman together or make snowballs to toss around. And while this place encourages visitors to play in the snow, there's always the option to sit back and relax when the need arises.

Amenities at Flagstaff Snow Park

It's not just snow tubing you'll find at this Flagstaff snow tubing destination—there are a few amenities that add to this Arizona winter experience. Feeling cold? Go ahead and warm up by one of the fire pits. If you're hungry and didn't bring your own snacks, several food trucks will be on site, so grab some grub and head to one of the picnic tables, located by the fire pits.
