New York’s Vintage Train Cars Are Running Through Its Secret Subway And You Won’t Want To Miss It
When it comes to the holiday season in New York, there are plenty of traditions that we like to maintain every year. But one of the most exciting events is when New York City rolls out its vintage subway trains for the holidays. It’s happening again this year for a limited time, and here’s what you need to know about New York’s Holiday Train Line.
New York City's Holiday Nostalgia Train Line runs every Sunday from November 26th through December 24th.
This year, the Holiday Train Line will be running on the F Line between 2nd Avenue and Lexington Avenue / 63rd Street and also via the Q Line between Lexington Avenue / 63rd Street and 96th Street. The trains are decorated in Christmas wreaths and bows, bringing holiday cheer to New York's subway system.
The holiday line is made up of eight vintage New York City subway cars, all from different eras between the 1930s and the 1970s.
Each vintage car is different, showing you just how much New York's subways have changed over the years. In some cars you'll even find fans on the ceilings and other minor details that are so different from modern subway cars.
Inside, you'll find vintage seats unlike anything else you'd see today and even old subway maps.
Look above you and you'll see vintage advertisements from all different eras, taking you on a trip back through time. Another plus? The Holiday Train Line keeps all the doors to the vintage cars open, so you can get the chance to walk through and see all the different cars.
These trains operate on Sundays from 10AM until 4PM. Visitors from all over will soon start to make their way down to the subway to check out this exclusive holiday ride.
If you're wondering how much this unique ride will cost, then don't fret! It'll still be $2.75 to ride this train just like any of the other subways. Now that it's the holiday season you'll find the Holiday Line's schedule posted in the subways for you to check out.
