This Tiny Virginia County Has Been Named One of the Richest in the Country
Forbes has just released their latest 2017 ranking of the most wealthy American counties, and Loudoun County in Virginia has topped the list.
With a median household income of $125,000, Loudoun County is a commuter county situated about 25 miles west of Washington D.C. Many residents – just about 10,000 – work in the capital and the Pentagon, while plenty more are employed at Dulles Airport, Verizon and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Additionally, Loudoun has a thriving small in-county commercial scene with over 11,700 businesses that employ over 161,000 people. It also has a large number of technology companies. Incredibly, up to 70 percent of global internet traffic runs through through Loudoun’s data centers.
Other top-scoring counties include Howard County, Maryland; Fairfax County, Virginia and Falls Church, Virginia.
