This Summer Was Officially The Busiest Travel Season In History
With summer officially drawing to a close, the Transportation Security Administration has confirmed what you might have suspected: this summer really has been the busiest travel season ever.
Producing long lines at airport security and headache-inducing traffic, 253 million passengers flew this season between Memorial Day and Labor Day. That’s a whopping six percent increase from last year.
Luckily, the TSA expected this surge. They hired an extra 1,600 officers last May to cope with the rising number of travelers. They’re also testing new screening technologies for luggage and passengers to keep things speedy in airports in the future.
Let’s hope that all that extra roaming has left the country feeling relaxed and ready to tackle holiday travel.
