The One County In Texas With Over 50 Award-Winning Wineries
Everyone knows Texas is full of amazing wineries, but few are aware that most of them are concentrated in one county. Gillespie County boasts more than 50 vineyards, each one with its own unique charm. See for yourself:
Nestled in the undulating hills of Central Texas is Gillespie County, the proud home to more than 50 award-winning wineries. Each one is unique, however they all share one thing: an undying passion for the craft.
18 of these vineyards are located in Fredericksburg alone, a startling statistic considering how small the town is. Pictured above is Messina Hof, which is Texas' largest wine producer.
Wine Road 290 runs straight through Fredericksburg, passing right by these highly acclaimed wineries. You can even take a shuttle and hop on or off wherever you'd like, allowing everyone to safely enjoy themselves.
Most of the venues offer tours, where you'll get to explore the property. Walk the grounds, see the cellar, and perhaps even watch the winemaking process.
Sample some of the finest wine our state has to offer, along with perfectly paired appetizers. Nothing beats sharing sips, snacks, and smiles with the people you care about most.
In addition to four annual wine trails, other special events are held year-round. Food + wine pairing dinners, live music, and grape stomps are just a few of the many activities.
So if you're looking for a different way to enjoy the gorgeous springtime weather in Texas, look no further than Gillespie County. It's here you'll find outstanding wine, great company, and breathtaking scenery.
