Take This Easy Hike Though A Magical Tunnel Of Trees In Texas

We recently told y’all about an enchanting tree tunnel at the Dallas Arboretum, but there’s another one that doesn’t get nearly enough attention. It’s located at Arbor Hills Nature Preserve in Plano, a welcome respite from bustling city life hiding right under our noses.
Hiding in plain sight, Arbor Hills Nature Preserve is a 200-acre park with ample opportunity for walking, jogging, hiking, bird watching, and plenty more outdoor recreation activities. It's the perfect place to go when you need a little peace and quiet but don't want to stray too far from the city.
In total, nearly nine miles of trails meander through the preserve. One is paved, several others are rugged pedestrian pathways, and another is specifically designated for off-road cycling.
There are three different landscapes in the park, each with its own distinct flora and fauna. Upland Forest is found at higher elevations and away from the creeks, with lanky elm trees towering high above the ground and providing shade to both hikers and wildlife.
A tunnel of sorts is created by the greenery, its overhang shrouding all who walk beneath in an aura of pure magic. Keep an eye out for rabbits frolicking about on the forest floor, sending a soft, cascading rustle through the vibrant leaves.
Nearer to the water is what's known as Riparian terrain, characterized by thick shrubbery growing along the banks. A wide variety of trees, including oak and willow, take up residence in and around the creek. Owls and woodpeckers make their homes within the jungle-like vegetation, and many bird species can be spotted flying over the stream in search of food.
Upon reaching the observation tower, you'll enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Plano extending far as the eye can see in all directions. Sit down for a spell and take complete rest, both mentally and physically.
