We may not be able to dash through the snow here in Texas, but we can still enjoy cozy winter getaways. One of the best winter towns in Texas is Brownwood, where you can sip a warm cup of coffee or local beer, catch a show at an old-fashioned theatre, eat in a train car, and soak in a hot tub outside your own private cottage at a bed and breakfast.

While not many places in Texas turn into postcard-worthy winter wonderlands, there are many charming small towns that evoke feelings of warmth and coziness during this time of year - and Brownwood is one of them.

Home to around 19,000 people, the north-central Texas town is located about 3 hours southwest of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. It's a lively, yet relaxing destination for a winter day trip (or weekend getaway), with low-key activities such as seasonal productions at the Lyric Theatre.
