Under two miles long, this short-and-sweet trail takes you through a sea of greenery, and it’s truly a fairytale come to life. Between the bright green foliage, fairytale footbridges, and whimsical trees with gnarled roots, I promise this hike is one you’ll never forget.
Running alongside the Guadalupe River and just steps away from Canyon Lake, the Guadalupe Park South Trail is a short-and-sweet hike that will transport you into a sea of greenery.
The trail is less than two miles long, but in that short amount of time, you will experience so much natural beauty. Lush, deep-green trees line the path, creating a dense forest canopy that will make you feel like you've entered a different world.
Like something out of a fairytale, wooden boardwalks carve a path through the foliage. You'll half expect to see a troll pop out beneath you or fairies whiz past you!
Along the riverbanks, longstanding trees with gnarled, intertwined roots offer a whimsical sight. Majestic as can be, they're like guardians of the landscape, providing protection for all those who enter it.
You'll also see rock overhangs with moss growing inside of them. This area is teeming with life, and it's such an incredible thing to witness firsthand.
The out-and-back route has an elevation gain of just over 100 feet, so it's suitable for most ages and skill levels. Since it isn't ultra challenging, you'll have lots of energy left over to simply enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Even in the fall, this trail has plenty to offer. The sea of green transforms into a barrage of reds, oranges, and yellows - different, to be sure, but still stunning.
