We did a list of the poorest cities in Texas about a month ago, so we thought we would follow it up with the richest cities in Texas, based on average household income. The data comes from the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2008-2012 American Community Survey 5-Year Estimates.
A wealthy suburb of Austin located on the edge of the Hill Country near the Colorado River, West Lake Hills comes in at #10 with an average household income of $191,587.
This area includes what's known as The Villages: Spring Valley Village, Piney Point Village, Bunker Hill Village, Hedwig Village, Hilshire Village, and Hunters Creek Village. More specifically, residents with the zip code 77024 meet this description, with the average household income of $197,090.

This area of Houston extends from just north of I-10 on Park Row Drive south to Westpark Tollway Drive. The average household income here is $199,805.
An affluent suburb of Fort Worth, the average household income of #7 on our list is $200,008.
Located in southwest Harris County, the average household income here is $202,735.
