She played a very important role in some of the most integral battles of both world wars. Today, you can spend an entire night walking the very same, well-preserved halls sailors did and imagining life on a wartime battleship.
You'll see parts of the ship not accessible on the regular tour, such as the interior of the 14-inch gun turret - the largest of its kind in 1914. See exactly how the guns were fired and imagine yourself in the shoes of the brave fighters.
Somewhere along this hallway is the Pilot House, where the steering wheel is located. In this room, the crew witnessed the German Navy surrendering on November 21, 1918. In WWII, it was the command center for all the combat operations including the infamous invasion of Normandy.
You'll even sleep in the same quarters as the sailors! Good luck getting any shut-eye on a tiny cot, hearing someone snoring directly above and below you. Might make that lumpy mattress at home seem a bit more appealing!
