Are there any ghost towns in Texas?

There are many haunted places in Austin. Why not consider visiting some ghost towns in Texas:

Indianola: Incorporated in 1853, this town can be found in Calhoun County. It functioned as a deep-water port during the Mexican-American War, had a stagecoach service, and was even the county seat. But by 1887, it was abandoned.

Toyah: Although it was an important trading post and even a railroad hub for the Texas & Pacific Railroad, by the Great Depression, most of its population had left. Today, about 60 people live here.

Are there any haunted hotels in Texas?

Take your haunted ATX tour to a whole new level by finishing off the evening at these haunted hotels in Texas:

The Excelsior Hotel: Located in Jefferson, this hotel was opened in 1858. Some of its most notable living guests were director Steven Spielberg and writer Oscar Wilde. If you stay, watch out for the phantom woman who has scared many guests so much that they have left the hotel.

Menger Hotel: Head to San Antonio for this 1859 hotel. There have been many encounters here, such as Sallie the chambermaid who enjoys pranking guests. And in the bar, you might just meet up with 26th President Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders.

Can I visit any abandoned places in Texas?

It’s not just haunted towns and hotels here in Texas. There are also some really creepy abandoned places in Texas:

Stardust Motel Sign: Don’t plan on staying at this motel when you see the sign along US-90. There is actually no motel here at all. The motel here closed quite a while ago, but the sign remains.

Cisco Zoo: This zoo opened for business in the 1920s but it didn’t last long. In the 1930s, a mystery involving a poisoned bear as well as a dead deer contributed to its downfall. Today, it has been revitalized as a walking trail where you can still see many remains of the former zoo.
