Drive Out To Farmhouse Restaurant, A Little Red Barn In Texas That’s Worth The Scenic Trip
Towns of fewer than 3,000 people are typically not given a second thought, but this one deserves much more than that. Van, a small North Texas community, is home to a restaurant called The Farmhouse that serves down-home comfort food in a charming red barn. It’s in the middle of nowhere, and the drive out is simply gorgeous.
Located in Van, the epitome of small-town Texas, The Farmhouse is anything but an ordinary little red barn -- though you'd never know based on the exterior alone. For the past 17 years, this family-owned restaurant has been serving some of the best Southern comfort food in the state.
While quality food trumps atmosphere in the Lone Star State, we'll never complain about a restaurant that offers both! With tractors, hay. windmills, and even a quaint cottage inside the building, it feels like you've been transported straight to a working ranch.
Stop by for all three meals, with breakfast from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. All the usual suspects like eggs, sausage, hash browns, biscuits, pancakes, and French toast are on the menu.
For lunch and dinner, the options are truly endless. Steak, seafood, liver & onions, popcorn shrimp, and fully-loaded burgers are just some of the classic Southern dishes available. Complete your meal with sides like mac & cheese, carrot raisin salad, fried okra, and mashed potatoes to leave the table happily stuffed.
We couldn't possibly neglect to mention dessert. Pies just like grandma used to make are baked each morning, in flavors like coconut cream, buttermilk, fudge brownie nut, and Dutch apple.
