3. St. Joseph Catholic Church, San Antonio
Built in 1868 and completed in 1871, real estate developers wanted to acquire the property and turn it into a shopping mall. The church leaders refused, so they built the mall around it. 4. Annunciation Catholic Church, Houston

Another beautifully painted church you will find in the small community of Dubina. The name "painted church" comes from the painting on the wood to resemble stones used for building churches in the settlers' native countries.

This gorgeous church in my hometown was built in 1903. I have been inside and can attest to the overwhelming splendor of the stained glass and Romanesque architecture.
