Nashville wasn’t a popular spot on the Underground Railroad, mainly because of its central location in the heart of the south. There are a couple of safe havens in Memphis, and only one that is rumored to have been used in Nashville. It’s in the strangest of places, right in the middle of the city…and now you can order a taco to go alongside your history lesson. Pancho & Lefty’s, anyone?
Here you can see the oldest surviving building in the heart of downtown Nashville. It's located right across the street from the highly popular Bridgestone Arena, and was once utilized as a livery stable - and some believe that it was also a stop on the Underground Railroad.
It's not a museum, though! Nope, the oldest building in the city and historic site is now home to Pancho & Lefty's, a fun Mexican eatery that caters to game goers and tequila fans.
