The Train-Themed Restaurant In Tennessee That Will Make You Feel Like A Kid Again
Have you ever heard of the Chattanooga Choo Choo? We almost feel silly saying that, because who hasn’t? This neat bit of Tennessee history is housed in the Chattanooga area, a beautiful place with a whole lot of fun. Come for a bite to eat, stay for the evening. There’s really no limit to what you can do, down here in Tennessee.
The Chattanooga Choo Choo Historic Hotel is home to the historic Chattanooga Choo Choo Train, which began its journey into American history from Cincinnati in 1880.
The hotel originally opened in 1973, and it is a remodeled train terminal that was once slated for demolition. Instead, a group of local businessmen came together and saved the property, turning it into a hotel.
In 2014 the hotel was completely renovated and turned into a much more updated and welcoming spot. There are quite a few folks who come here for their honeymoon or anniversaries - it's that kind of neat, stunning spot.
There are actually quite a few on-site dining options: The Gardens Restaurant, The Silver Dollar Pizza Car, The Victorian Lounge, STIR and the Backstage Bar. This shot up here is actually from Hush, a new bar and lounge area. You really do have your pick!
The Gardens Restaurant is open only for breakfast every day, and allows you to enjoy a meal in the beautiful hotel gardens.
The Silver Dollar Pizza Car is open for dinner every single day, and it's a great option for quick, made-to-order pizzas. You can also head over The Victorian Lounge, a bar with antique decor that will transport you back to the railroad golden age.
The STIR is an artisan drink and oyster bar that serves local food, and the Backstage Bar is another spot to head to if you're looking to enjoy something to drink at the Comedy Catch Club.
You can stay in one of the Pullman train car guest rooms; they are actually IN a train car, which is entirely magical. You can also stay in the historic MacArthur Building if you'd rather spend an evening on solid ground - without wheels, we mean. The building was named after one of the famous locomotives that ran through Chattanooga. Plus, there's a heated indoor pool!
The hotel offers packages with other local Chattanooga attractions, so you can book your hotel and also plan for visits to Ruby Falls, the zoo or aquarium - amongst other spots, of course!
You can make a visit of it yourself - whether just for a meal or overnight - at 1400 Market Street in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
What a fun place to visit! Are you in? Plus, here are some
adventurous spots in Tennessee you should visit as well. You can barely find ’em on a map…
