1. Woolworth on 5th - 221 5th Ave N
Woolworth on 5th not only delivers classic Southern dishes, but it's located in a space that gives a solid nod to the civil rights lunch counter protests that took place in the space in the mid-twentieth century. There's no other place in the city that sends you back in time with such validity and aplomb.
2. The Catbird Seat - 1711 Division Street
The Catbird Seat is located on Music Row, and it hosts a spare number of people every night for dinner. The experience comes at a price, the tasting menu is paired well with wine and cocktails, making it one of the hardest reservations to get in the city.
3. Bastion - 434 Houston Street
Bastion is considered one of the most beautiful new dining concepts in the city. It operates mainly as a bar, with a small dining room hidden away for a handful of people to experience dinner every night. It's the exact opposite of a speakeasy, where instead of sipping cocktails in a hidden bar you're indulging in an incredible food-centric experience in a secret dining room.
4. Patterson House - 1711 Division Street
Patterson House is well-known for its luxurious setting and bar hidden behind a heavy curtain, speakeasy style. It's a decadent escape from the day-to-day and its craft cocktails and small plates are all beautifully prepared.
5. Slim & Husky's Pizza Beeria - Various Locations
Slim & Husky's was opened by a handful of local North Nashvillians who created one of the best dining concepts in the city: a make your own pizza assembly line. You can choose from a list of specialty pizzas, or you can choose to create your own culinary experience.
6. The 404 Kitchen - 507 12th Avenue South
The 404 Kitchen gives a unique spin to European classics, and it's just moved to a larger and more modern space just across the street from its original location. If you're looking for a taste flown straight across the Atlantic, this is the place to go. You can also indulge in Gertie's, the whiskey bar that's located just downstairs.
7. Husk Restaurant - 37 Rutledge Street
Husk gives a historical setting to a southern experience, especially since you'll be noshing on fried chicken in the heart of a historic old home. Although owned by a Charleston-based company, it remains one of the most elegant dining experiences in the city.
