Can I hike to abandoned places in Nashville?

While this hike is technically just outside of Nashville, we think it's close enough for us to answer this question with a "yes." If you take a visit to the Big South Fork National Recreation Area in Oneida you can hunt for the remnants of a town that was known as "No Business." It is tough to find, but luckily the park is packed full of gorgeous natural features such as waterfalls and ponds, so your hunt is guaranteed to be scenic. This hike requires a good navigator and a good pair of hiking boots, but is more than worth your time. You can read our article on this abandoned place hike to learn more.

Which hikes in Nashville are best in the winter?

Nashville has relatively mild winters, with lows in the low 30's during January, which is usually their coldest month. Highs can still get up in the mid to late 50's during this time though, making hiking in Nashville a great time no matter the season. That said, there are definitely some hikes that are better left to warmer weather, and a few that are made only more enjoyable with the presence of some snow and ice. One trail that you'll want to lace up your winter boots for is the Beaman Park trail. At 1.5 miles this hike features a bit of a steep climb, but is suitable for most hikers and is so peaceful in winter.
