Here in Tennessee, “beachfront” actually means “waterfront,” since we just so happen to be a landlocked southern state. There are only a few of us (hi there, Kentucky!), but our lakes and rivers more than make up for our lack of coastal towns and sandy beaches. Cove Lake State Park is one of the most beautiful spots in the state, a gorgeous reprieve from the heat of our hills and valleys and a perfect place for summertime camping.
Cove Lake is made up of 717 acres, located on the beautiful eastern side of the state. Sun drenched in the summertime and chilled to the pretty winter bone, this is one of the prettiest hidden gems in the state.
The Campbell County destination encircles Cove Lake, a man-made waterway that was created after the institution of the 1936 Caryville Dam.

Known for its brilliant color-infused sunrises and sunsets, the park is one of the lesser known spots where folks can camp along the waterfront.
Rates range from $25 to $27, and there are 106 campsites scattered throughout the park. There are two bathhouses that host showers and bathrooms as well.
There are multiple other opportunities to have fun in the sun, whether you're a cyclist or a hiker. There's a swimming pool that opens for the summertime, and you can take the 1.2 mile Volunteer Loop.
If you're looking for a watery adventure of sorts, then you'll want to rent one of the row boats available at the boathouse. You can either choose to rent for half a day ($15) or a full day ($24).
