We Found The Best Place In Tennessee To Get Your Apple Cider Donut Fix This Fall
Autumn is close on our heels, and that means it’s about time to start planning those nippy Saturday mornings out and about, day trips to the cider mills of New England and the south, and perhaps dig out a recipe from the depths of our dog-eared cookbooks. Tennessee may feel the chill of the season a little bit later than most (especially this year!), but that doesn’t mean we don’t know how to love and experience the season to the fullest.

The Apple Barn holds the key to a neat facet of Tennessee history. The barn is original, having been built in 1910 and lovingly restored, and has influenced a cult following throughout the state.

The Apple Barn and Cider Mill is nestled in the beautiful natural setting of Sevierville. Here, the orchard boasts more than 4,000 trees on land that was originally farmed in 1972 by the Kilpatrick and Hicks families.

The space has expanded from a simple orchard to a general store, bakery, and apple cider tasting room. You can also eat at the famed Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant to get a taste of homey southern fare made from locally sourced ingredients.

You can shop the general store where there are all sorts of food items and homemade goods perfect for the trek back home. The barn is located on a gorgeous and spacious property, one that bursts with natural Tennessee beauty and offers up a stunning backdrop for family photos and memories.

There are roughly fourteen different varieties of apples grown on the farm, a majority of which are sold to the public or used in the restaurant and bakery on-site. Speaking of which...

...we can't forget the donut of the hour — freshly fried and glazed to perfection, this apple infused treat is perfect for an autumn afternoon.

The cinnamon-sugar encrusted apple donuts are delicious, too! It has the perfect spice of cinnamon paired with the sweetness of sugar.

The fried hand pies are also made fresh and sold to the public, and we'd highly recommend snagging one, even if just for the road.

These apple butter muffins are baked fresh on the daily and filled with locally made apple butter. You can purchase apple butter to take home, as well, if you're looking to indulge from the comfort of your own home.

Have you been? Would you go? We can't wait for autumn to get here, so we may just be visiting sooner rather than later... then again and again, of course. You can visit for yourself at 230 Apple Valley Rd. in Sevierville, Tennessee.
