One Of The Top Ski Resorts In The U.S. Is In Wyoming And We Think You’ll Absolutely Love It

Plankers and snow rats have their favorite places to schuss and shred, and with several ski resorts throughout the state, Wyoming typically lands among most people's picks. One resort, in particular, is so epic that it keeps getting named at the top of the list of the best ski resorts in the country. With an elevation of over 4,100 feet and numerous challenging runs, it's no wonder Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is a top choice for skiers and snowboarders.

The Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is located at Teton Village, about 12 miles northwest of Jackson, Wyoming.

For the seventh year in a row, it's been listed as one of the top ski resorts in the entire U.S.

Considering it offers a winter sports experience you can't get anywhere else - skiing the Grand Tetons - it's not all that surprising that JH Mountain Resort has earned itself a consistent spot among the best.

There is terrain for skiers and snowboarders of all levels, from beginners through the most accomplished.

When you're up on the mountain, nothing beats the breathtaking view or feeling of freedom.

Though Jackson has a reputation for being a playground for the rich, this resort has accomplished what few others have - creating a space that successfully melds down-to-Earth skier culture with luxury-seekers that results in an environment like no other.

There are several ways up the mountain: magic carpets, trams, and gondolas. The newest is the Sweetwater Gondola which ferries skiers from the base up to the intermediate section of the terrain.

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort has also been named one of the most challenging resorts in years past. If you've ever stood on the edge of Corbet's Couloir and anticipated dropping down to the near-vertical face...

...you'll certainly agree.

If you don't work up the courage to drop into the keyhole, you'll be in good company. Gawkers standing on the edge watching often outnumber the ones who take the plunge. Here's a look at this infamous run:

The resort also offers classes and private lessons for people of all ages, as well as camps and programs to help people learn to ski or snowboard or to sharpen their skills.

On top of it all, Teton Village is a delightful place to stay so you can get in several days of world-class skiing or snowboarding in one trip.

There are restaurants and shops right at the base of the mountain, but you'll be a short drive from the city of Jackson for even more shopping and eating options, as well as access to galleries, museums, and Grand Teton and Yellowstone national parks.

It will be tough to beat last year's record 158 inches of snow on the mountain at the resort. There's already a good start, though, with 123 inches at the time of this writing.

You can check on the snowfall and mountain report any time on the resort's website.
